Canadian singer Grimes, famous for both her music and her relationships with the tech billionaire Elon Musk, has become an activist against racism against Indians. On X, Grimes posted information about her close relationship with Indian culture because her stepfather is Indian.

Recently there are alot of hateful comments on America social media targeting Indians especially after Sriram Krishnan joins the Donald Trump administration. Canadian Leslie Claire, better known as Grimes, shared her own childhood stories. On X, she said, “It is embarrassing y’all to suddenly come up with energy that is anti-Indian.” Also, they were clear that they intended to do this.” She also said, “My stepdad’s Indian, I had a fire childhood in a half-Indian household.” Hence, he said, Indian culture blends very well with Western culture.”

Grimes who was born and raised in Vancouver, Canada. Her mother after divorce later married Ravi Sidhoo the director of East India Carpets in Vancouver. The lifestyle shaped Grimes into someone who has a deep understanding of Indian culture that she says complements Western culture.

Grimes’ post also made reference to Indian and Western civilizations firstly, secondly they do respect each other. She says that by coming out with her story she wants to contribute in reducing the cases of negativity towards diversity and bring in appreciation of difference.
