BJP MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi was injured during a scuffle in Parliament on Thursday. It was during demonstrations over Home Minister Amit Shah’s comment on Dr. B.R. Ambedkar which turned violent. BJP’s Sarangi along with fellow BJP MP Mukesh Rajput were wounded and taken to the hospital.

Early Life and Background
Pratap Sarangi was born being on the day 4th of January, 1955 at Gopinathpur of Odisha. He was very humble and came from a simple background, leading a simple life center around serving the people. Sarangi has always known for his austere lifestyle, which is often called his ‘people’s leader’ because of his grassroot orientation.
Political Career
Sarangi had made his foray into politics in Odisha, having become a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) twice. Between 2004 and 2009, he was elected to the Odisha Legislative Assembly as the candidate from Nilagiri, and in 2009 reelected till 2014.
Sarangi stood against the Lok Sabha elections from Balasore constituency in 2014, and lost to the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) candidate. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections he however made a strong comeback, beating sitting MP Rabindra Kumar Jena of BJD by a margin of 12,956 votes. It was a big win for his political career.
Injured During Parliament Scuffle
The violent protests today over Amit Shah’s remarks on Dr. Ambedkar had also injured Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput. Sarangi suffered a serious head injury and was taken to RML Hospital. Doctors said he required several stitches and time in the ICU while he was kept under observation due to blood loss.
The other injured MP Mukesh Rajput said he was dizzy and had high blood pressure. The MPs are also now under medical care.
